Wolves eyes turning to neighbour’s left back

In news emerging from the Express and Star, it seems that Wolves are ready to raid one of their close neighbours for a player.

The Express and Star say that Wolves boss Kenny Jackett was at West Brom’s Hawthorns ground to run the rule over one of the Baggies’ players – the player in question being Belgian international left back Sebastien Pocognoli.

The 28-year-old, signed from Hannover 96 two years ago for a fee of around £1.5m, has not been able to force his way into the West Brom side for any sustained spell of time since current manager Tony Pulis took over the reins at the Hawthorns over a year ago. The Express and Star say that Jackett and Wolves are in the market for a left back after Scott Goulbourne’s surprise £300,000 move to Bristol City; this being ever more urgent since the left back position has been filled recently by Matt Doherty – a natural right back deputising across the other side of the park.

Pocognoli’s appearance in the 2-2 draw against Peterborough was only the Belgian’s fourth appearance under manager Pulis in the 1 months that the Welshman has been in charge at the club and only the second start he has made this season.

The Express and Star say that “Pulis has made it clear he would like to off-load the 28-year-old…He would like to sell Pocognoli out-right but the club would be open to a loan deal too.”
