Hull City on the verge of signing Manchester United starlet

Championship table toppers Hull City are set to announce the signing of Manchester United youngster Nick Powell in the coming days.

The 21 year-old has struggled to first team action with the Red Devils and, after confirming his interest in the player yesterday, Tigers boss Steve Bruce is keen to finalize a deal before transfer deadline day.

Since arriving at Old Trafford back in 2012, the former England U21 international has made just nine first team appearances for the Manchester club.

Loan spells to Leicester City last season, and a season-long loan to Wigan during the 2013-14 season, have provided the youngster with valuable first team playing time.

Capped by England at all youth levels from U16 to U21, Powell started his career with Crewe and made his debut as a 16 year-old back in 2010.

After a breakthrough season during the 2011-12 campaign, Powell played all 38 league games and scored an incredible 14 goals from his midfield position.

This bought about attention from England’s biggest clubs and it was Manchester United who won the race for his signature, signing the player in a deal worth around £6 million.
