Huddersfield linked with chase for Premier League duo

Huddersfield Town are chasing the signatures of young Premier League pair Daniel Trickett-Smith and Kevin Toner according to reports by The Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

Huddersfield Town Manager David Wagner is understood to be looking to boost his squad in preparation for the end of season run in and has identified the two youngsters as potential additions to his squad.

Liverpool midfielder Trickett-Smith joined The Reds from Crewe Alexandra’s famous youth academy in 2012 for a reported fee of £300,000. Trickett-Smith has represented England at various youth levels and is a regular for Liverpool’s Under 21s side. The 20 year old is contracted to the Anfield club until next summer but has yet to make a senior appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Terriers are also said to be chasing the signature of Aston Villa Under 21s Captain Kevin Toner. The defender is an Under 19s international for the Republic of Ireland and joined The Villains from Irish club Home Farm. Toner is yet to make a senior appearance for Villa but has previously enjoyed a short loan spell at Conference Premier club Kidderminster Harriers. The defender is out of contract in the summer however Aston Villa have the option to extend the deal by a further year.

Should Huddersfield Town decide to make a move to secure the services of the pair, any deal is likely to be agreed on a loan basis with both players contracted to their parent clubs.
