England starlet signs for Charlton on loan

England and West Ham starlet Reece Oxford has signed on loan for Charlton Athletic, according to The Telegraph.

The 17 year old has agreed to sign for the struggling Addicks on loan until the end of the campaign.

He shot to fame with a superb debut against Arsenal at the start of the season, in which he only lost possession once.

That appearance made him the second youngest starter in Premier League history, after Jose Baxter.

Oxford can play in midfield or defence and has featured eight times for The Hammers first team this season.

However, his first team opportunities at the club are set to be limited for the rest of the campaign, so he has dropped a level to gain six months experience.

The youngster has played for England at Under 16 and Under 17 level and has attracted interest from a whole host of top Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Charlton fans will be hoping the starlet can make an immediate impact as the club are currently struggling and are second bottom in The Championship, with off the field protests about their ownership continuing to loom.
