Hull City join the race to sign Chelsea striker

Hull City are the latest club to be linked with a loan move for Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford according to reports in The Mirror.

The 22 year old has recently had a loan spell at Premier League club Crystal Palace cut short and it is understood that the player could be on Hull City’s radar as Manager Steve Bruce looks to put the finishing touches to his promotion chasing squad.

The youngster endured a nightmare loan spell at Selhurst Park earlier this season where the player failed to score in 9 appearances for The Eagles. Bamford had a hugely successful loan spell at Middlesbrough last season where he scored 19 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions for The Teesside club and it is that kind of form which has made the striker one of January’s most wanted transfer targets with a host of clubs reportedly interested in the player.

Bamford joined Chelsea in January 2012 from Nottingham Forest for a fee in the region of £1.5 million and the striker has impressed during loan spells at MK Dons and Derby County earlier in his career prior to his spell at Middlesbrough. The striker is yet to make an appearance for parent club Chelsea.

Hull City are the new Championship leaders after their 1-0 victory at Fulham yesterday and the loan signing of Bamford would significantly enhance the club’s chances of staying at the summit.
