Hooper set to complete Sheffield Wednesday move

Sheffield Wednesday are set to complete the permanent signing of striker Gary Hooper later today according to the Sheffield Star.

The 27 year old will sign a three and a half year deal at Hillsborough for a reported fee of £3 million. Hooper has had an excellent loan spell with The Owls and has scored 6 goals in his last 6 matches prior to his return to parent club Norwich City on Sunday following the completion of his loan spell.

The striker has scored 20 goals in 70 games for The Canaries but has struggled to gain a First Team place for the club following their promotion back to the Premier League last season. Hooper has spent two and a half years at Carrow Road after signing for the club from Celtic for a fee said to be in the region of £5 million.

Prior to his move to Norwich City, Hooper has had successful spells at Scunthorpe United where he scored 50 goals in 95 appearances and Celtic where he scored 82 goals in 138 appearances.

Sheffield Wednesday are having a solid season under new Manager Carlos Carvalhal and the permanent signing of Hooper will add further fuel to the club’s push for promotion.

Hooper will be available to feature for Sheffield Wednesday in their Championship fixture at Reading tomorrow.
