Tubbs linked with Dons return

Portsmouth Manager Paul Cook has invited League 2 rivals AFC Wimbledon to follow up their interest in striker Matt Tubbs according to Get West London.

The 31 year old is currently out of favour at Fratton Park following injury and Pompey Manager Paul Cook is willing to let the striker leave if the price is right. It is understood that Tubbs is desparate to play regular first team football as he enters the final stages of his playing career.

The striker had a successful loan spell at AFC Wimbledon last season and scored 15 goals in 30 appearances at Kingsmeadow. Dons Manager Neil Ardley is a huge admirer of the player and it is understood that he is considering making a move for Tubbs this month.

Tubbs made his name playing non league football with Salisbury City where he scored 123 goals in 278 appearances for The Whites. He then moved on to Crawley Town where he played a huge part in their promotion to the Football League and scored 40 goals for The Red Devils during their promotion season.

A move to AFC Bournemouth failed to provide Tubbs with further success and the striker joined Portsmouth a year ago after loan spells at Rotherham United, Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon.

The striker has also represented England C whilst playing in non league.
