Veteran striker Lisbie linked with Leyton Orient return

Veteran striker Kevin Lisbie could be set for a surprise return to Leyton Orient after featuring for the club in a Development League match according to the Guardian Series.

The 37 year old Hackney born striker is currently a free agent after leaving Orient’s League 2 rivals Barnet earlier this month.

Lisbie was fielded as a trialist in Orient’s 1-0 Development League home loss to Southend United on Tuesday by Interim O’s Manager Andy Hessenthaler along with fellow trialist Antonio German.

Lisbie played for the Brisbane Road club for almost four years prior to his spell at Barnet and was hugely popular with the O’s supporters. The veteran scored 48 goals in 122 games for the club as Orient excelled in League 1 under former Manager Russell Slade.

After a promising start to the season following their relegation from League 1, Leyton Orient have slid down the table after a poor run of results which ultimately lost Manager Ian Hendon his job. Orient were the early season pace setters in League 2 but are currently two points off a Play Off spot in eleventh position.

Orient may look to sign another striker with the club having failed to win any of their last three matches. The club have depended heavily on the goals of top scorer Jay Simpson so far this season.
