Everton Manager Roberto Martinez is eyeing up a summer move for Derby County central midfielder Will Hughes according to reports in The Mirror.
The 20 year old is one of England’s brightest young prospects with many tipping the midfielder for senior international honours in the future and it seems that it is only a matter of time before the player will impress at the top flight.
Hughes graduated through Derby County’s youth academy and has gone on to make 139 appearances for The Rams scoring 10 goals after making his debut for the club as a 16 year old.
The midfielder is currently sidelined with a knee injury sustained in a fixture with Bolton Wanderers back on the opening day of the season. Hughes is expected to return to action sometime next month however Merseyside giants Everton are understood to be waiting for the player to return to full fitness before making a bid for his services this summer.
It is understood that The Toffees are prepared to make a bid in excess of £10 million for the player’s services however the sale of the midfielder could well depend upon whether Derby County gain promotion to the Premier League.
Failure to reach the top flight could force The Rams into the sale of their most prized asset however the club will be in no immediate rush to sell the midfielder and if Hughes is sold the club are expected to hold out for a large transfer fee.
