Hornets join the race to sign QPR star

Premier League surprise package Watford are the latest top flight club to be linked with a January move for QPR winger Matt Phillips according to The Mirror.

Big spending AFC Bournemouth were said to be interested in signing the wide man earlier this week but it has now been reported that The Hornets have joined the race to sign the player with West Bromwich Albion also showing an interest.

Phillips’ signature is valued at around £8 million and the winger in no stranger to Premier League football having played in the top flight with both Blackpool and QPR.

The 24 year old was born in Aylesbury and it is understood that the player does not wish to move away from his home meaning that a move to Vicarage Road could be the best option should QPR decide to cash in on the winger.

Watford are enjoying an excellent season back in the Premier League but have stuttered in recent weeks after going four matches without a win and Manager Quique Flores is in the hunt to sign two new wingers this month with the club also said to be interested in signing Malaga wide man Nordin Amrabat.

Phillips joined current club QPR on a four year deal from Blackpool back in August 2013 for a fee believed to be in the region of £5 million.
