MK set for Cobblers invasion

An army of Northampton Town supporters are set to invade Milton Keynes on Tuesday evening as MK Dons face Northampton Town in a big FA Cup Third Round Replay.

The Cobblers have been provided with a ticket allocation of just under 7000 for the Stadium MK clash with all remaining tickets set to be snatched up before the day of the match. It has been reported that MK Dons could be outnumbered by Cobblers fans on Tuesday evening.

The two clubs faught out a thrilling 2-2 draw in front of a capacity crowd at Sixfields last Saturday when the League 2 Cobblers were cruelly denied an FA Cup giant killing after MK Dons scrambled in a late equaliser.

The winners of the tie will earn a money spinning FA Cup Fourth Round home dual with Premier League champions Chelsea. The match has already been earmarked for potential television coverage offering a significant financial boost to the Third Round winners.

Northampton Town’s fans have had to endure a tough time recently with heated debates over outstanding debts to the local council, an unpaid HMRC Bill and a realistic threat of administration. Despite the club’s off field issues, Manager Chris Wilder has worked a minor miracle on the pitch with The Cobblers looking like possible automatic promotion winners come May.

With a takeover of the club now complete, brighter times are certainly just around the corner for The Cobblers and supporters will be hoping that their recent loyal support can be rewarded with a glamour cup tie with Chelsea.
