Saints agree Austin deal

Southampton have agreed a deal for QPR striker Charlie Austin, according to Sky Sports.

They also understand that the 26 year old has agreed personal terms and passed a medical with the South Coast club.

Austin has only played 16 league games for Rangers this season due to injury, but is their top scorer with 10 goals.

The fee for his services is said to be in the region of £4m.

The move comes as a surprise, as Austin has repeatedly expressed his desire to remain at QPR until the end of the season.

However, his 18 goals in the top flight last season have tempted Southampton to move for a cut price deal.

Austins fee is reduced due to his contract being up at the end of this season.

Saints striker Graziano Pelle has also been recently linked with a move away from St Marys.

The news of Austin’s departure is a bitter blow to QPR and their fading play off hopes.
