Reading striker set for Athens loan move

Greek Super League side AEK Athens are hoping to sign out-of-favour Reading striker Orlando Sa on loan according to Get Reading. The former Legia Warsaw striker has only started one game ever since Brian McDermott was reappointed as first-team manager following the departure of Steve Clarke.

It was Clarke who signed Sa over the summer whilst he was the head coach, and McDermott has recently told the Pole that he needs to be patient and bide his time. Former Sunderland manager Gus Poyet is on charge of the Greek side hoping to sign him and is looking to push through a temporary deal as quickly as possible.

The 27-year-old started the season in blistering form for the Royals, scoring four inside his first seven matches since linking up with the Berkshire club. However in recent times he has mostly be restricted to brief substitute appearances, or just sitting on the bench and not even appearing. Simon Cox has just returned from a loan spell with Bristol City, so Sa’s potential game time at the Madejski Stadium could be even more restricted.

Poyet is looking to sign Sa to maintain their push for a European spot at the end of the season. They are hoping to sign the striker on loan until the end of the season. Reading appear to be preparring for life without him as well, as they have been heavily linked to the loan signing of AFC Bournemouth striker Yann Kermorgant.
