Burnley bid for Brentford star

Burnley have made a bid to sign Alan Judge from Brentford, according to Sky Sports.

The Republic of Ireland international is valued at £8m by Brentford, who are keen to hold on to one of their prized assets.

Sheffield Wednesday had a bid rejected for the midfield star last week, after failing to meet Brentford’s valuation of the player.

Wednesday now look set to sign Mark Davies from Bolton, so it is unclear whether they will follow up their interest in Judge with another bid.

Judge, 27, has 18 months remaining on his contract in West London.

He first signed for The Bees on loan from Blackburn in January 2014 and scored seven goals in 22 games for the club.

That was enough to earn a permanent move to Brentford in the summer, where he has scored 13 goals in 52 matches since.

Burnley have already poached one of Brentfords stars this season in striker Andre Gray, although it remains to be seen whether they can thrash out a deal for Judge.

The Republic of Ireland international is highly rated by players and pundits alike and has a growing reputation in the second tier.
