Dan Burn

Sheff Utd line up third bid for Fulham defender

The Sheffield Star understands that Sheffield United are lining up a third bid to try and sign Fulham defender Dan Burn. The Blades have so far seen two bids rejected by the Craven Cottage club, but Nigel Adkins insists that he won’t give up just yet.

The 23-year-old towering centre back has been an admirer of the former Reading boss for some time. Adkins is prepared to test newly-appointed Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic with another offer. The defender is however enjoying a run in the team with the Championship side, so it remains to be seen if he would indeed be interested in a move away.

Adkins also hopes to add more players to his squad this month, as they look to get their latest promotion bid back on track,

“It’s fair to say there are a couple of players we would like to bring in.

They are good players but it’s easier said than done which is unfortunate. Things change all the time, especially at this point of the season. Players who are available are suddenly back in the team which makes them not so available.”

The ex-Scunthorpe United manager and physio acknowledged that is it difficult to prize players away from their respective clubs. However he understands the power and lure a club like Sheffield United can produce.

Blyth-born Burn does have experience of League One football during a loan spell with Yeovil Town in the 2012/13 campaign. He scored in the League One Play-Off Final as he helped the club achieve promotion to the second tier for the first and only time in their history. He began his career at Darlington before joining the then-Premier League side for over £300,000 in April 2011.
