Brentford: Bees reject player transfer request

Bretford player, and fan favourite, Toumani Diagouraga has handed in a trasnfer request that has been rejected by the Bees, report Sky Sports.

28-year-old Diagouraga sparked off interest in a ‘move’ when the Frenchman said that, “I’d be very interested in playing again for Mark [Warburton – his ex-manager at Brentford].” It is also reported by Sky Sports that Scottish Championship side Rangers reportedly had a bid for Diogouraga turned down last week with the Scottish Sun relaying that SunSport had revealed “that Gers’ £100,000 bid for the powerful midfielder had been knocked back” by Brentford.

The ex-Paris St Germain Under-19 player first appeared in English football signing for Watford as an 18-year-old on July 1, 2005 before being loaned out on a series of loans that took inSwindon Town and Rotherham United before Hereford gained him on a free transfer from Watford in 2007; the Bulls selling him two years later to Peterborough for £70,000.

Diaouraga’s Brentford adventure began six months later with the Bees parting with £473,000 to sign him from Peterborough and bring him to Griffin Park. To date the powerfully-built midfielder has played 238 games for Brentford, scoring seven goals and providing 16 assists.

Mark Warburton refused to be drawn into the affair when asked of interest in Doagouraga, who is contracted to Brentford until 2017, when questioned after Rangers Scottish Cup victory over Cowdenbeath at the weekend. All that the tight-lipped ex-Brentford manager would say was, “I’m never going to talk about another club’s players. When we conclude our business we can talk about it.”
