Derby County make bid for Blackburn Rovers defender

Derby County have made a bid for Blackburn Rovers defender Marcus Olsson, with the transfer offer being rejected according to The Sun.

Derby have been linked with the Blackburn defender for quite some time, and have finally made an offer for the left-back.

It is understood that Derby’s bid was in the region of £250,000, which is very much below Blackburn’s valuation of the player.

Olsson’s contract with Blackburn expires in the summer and so Derby may be trying to sign the player on the cheap in the hope that Blackburn would rather accept an offer now than risk losing Olsson for nothing in summer.

Olsson won Blackburn’s Player of the Season award for the 2014-15 season and it is far from set in stone that the left-back will leave the club at all.

The Swedish international made the left-back position his own last season after an injury to Tommy Spurr and is currently one of the first names on the team sheet at Rovers.  Olsson may not want to trade his place in the team at Blackburn for perhaps only a spot on the bench at Derby.
