Nottingham Forest have rejected an approach from Premier League side Aston Villa for midfielder Oliver Burke, according to The Sun.
It is understood that Aston Villa wanted to sign Burke as part of the deal taking Gary Gardner to Nottingham Forest on loan for the rest of the season. However Forest rejected Villa’s approach for the 18-year-old winger.
Forest signed Gardner on loan for the second time on Friday, after the central midfielder played 18 games for the club on loan last season. Manager Dougie Freedman said of the signing:
“His quality on the ball will help the squad. He brings a desire to do well. I want players who want to come here. Gary expressed a real strong interest.”
Freedman will be happy the club have managed to hold on to Burke, who has scored one goal in six league appearances in his Nottingham Forest career so far. The winger also has one goal in five appearances for the Scotland Under-19 team and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
