Preston to let midfielder join Barnsley

Preston North End are ready to let midfielder Neil Kilkenny leave the club and join Barnsley, according to The Sun.

There had been rumours this month that Barnsley were interested in Kilkenny and now that interest has been confirmed.  However it is believed that the midfielder himself isn’t so keen on a move away from Deepdale.

Kilkenny signed for Preston in January 2014 after initially playing for the club on loan from then Championship side Bristol City.  During his time with the club, the midfielder has made 62 league appearances, scoring three goals.

Kilkenny is probably known most for his three years with Leeds United, during which time he made 122 league appearances.  The player eventually left the club for Bristol City after the two failed to agree a new contract.

It is understood that Preston want a transfer fee for Kilkenny if he signs for Barnsley but the League One side are not so keen to pay.
