Wolves favourites for Villa striker

Wolverhampton Wanderers are the favourites to sign Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Sky Bet make Wolves the 4/1 favourites to sign the 29 year old in this window.

Agbonlahor has been linked with a move away from struggling Villa and has failed to make an impact under new boss Remi Garde.

Garde is now believed to want Agbonlahor off his wage bill and Wolves appear a likely destination according to Sky Bet.

The West Midlands side look destined to lose striker Benik Afobe to Premier League side Bournemouth and they may look towards Agbonlahor to replace him.

The Birmingham born striker has spent all his career at Villa, but may now make a move away from the Premier Leagues bottom club.

Championship sides Derby and Blackburn also feature heavily in Sky’s betting for Agbonlahor and are third and fourth favourites to secure his signature.

Wolves have had an up and down season and currently lie 11th in the Sky Bet Championship, after 25 games.

Their form has improved of late and they are now only seven points off the play-offs.

However, they will be keen to replace Afobe, especially due to the loss of Nouha Dicko to an injury earlier in the campaign, which means that he is unlikely to feature all season.
