The Sheffield Star understands that Jack Hunt is to make his loan move from Crystal Palace to Sheffield Wednesday into a permanent transfer. It is believed that a deal has been agreed between the two clubs and it should be confirmed in the next few days.
The 25-year-old has impressed in his temporary spell at Hillsborough so far this season, so much so that Carlos Carvalhal has and is set to make his stay a longer-term one. The defender began his career at Huddersfield Town and after several long spells in recent years, is now closing in on his third permanent transfer of his career.
Not only does Hunt offer something defensively but his work-rate to overlap down the right side into attack is another big attribute of his. He has become a fans’ favourite during his time in Sheffield, and will leave Alan Pardew’s side despite not making a single appearance for the Selhurst Park club. He made the move from the Terriers in 2013 for a fee in the region of £2million.
In the past few seasons, the Rothwell-born full back has spent time on loan with Barnsley, Nottingham Forest and Rotherham United, before linking up with the Owls over the summer. His impressive performances has led to Carvalhal acting again in this January transfer window. This news comes on the day that Mark Davies moved a step closer to signing from Bolton Wanderers. He was left out of the Trotters’ tie at Eastleigh earlier today.
