Colchester United loan Canaries stopper

League 1 relegation strugglers Colchester United have signed Norwich City goalkeeper Jake Kean on a one month loan deal according to The East Anglian Daily Times.

The 24 year old makes the temporary move to The Weston Homes Community Stadium having never made a Premier League appearance for The Canaries. The Norwich City stopper is currently third choice at Carrow Road behind John Ruddy and Declan Rudd and his loan deal at the Essex club could be extended until the end of the season.

Colchester United’s previous loanee goalkeeper Jamie Jones returned to parent club Preston North End last month so new U’s Manager Kevin Keen made the decision to swoop for Norwich City keeper Kean ahead of the FA Cup Third Round tie with Charlton Athletic at The Weston Homes Community Stadium. Canaries Manager Alex Neil has permitted Kean to play in the FA Cup clash.

Kean came through the youth set up at hometown club Derby County before moving to Blackburn Rovers and went on to spend 6 years at Ewood Park. The keeper had loan spells at Hartlepool United, Oldham Athletic, Rochdale and Yeovil Town during his time in Lancashire.

Kean left Blackburn Rovers to join Norwich City last summer.
