Aston Villa forward won’t be signing for Burnley

Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor won’t be signing for Championship side Burnley, according to The Lancashire Telegraph.

There had been reports that Agbonlahor, 29, was set to leave Aston Villa after over 20 years at the club and that Burnley looked the most likely destination for the striker.

However it is now known that Agbonlahor has a back injury and this is the reason he has been absent from Remi Garde’s Villa squad recently.

Burnley have not made an approach for the player and so speculation about a move to the recently relegated side has now ceased.  However it is believed that fellow Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers have expressed an interest in signing Agbonlahor, who has 84 goals in 363 games for Villa.

The striker is said to want to stay in the Premier League if a move away from Aston Villa was ever mentioned.
