Wolves and Bristol City want Bolton defender

Bristol City and Wolverhampton Wanderers both want to take Bolton defender Dean Moxey on a free transfer, according to The Sun.

Moxey signed for Bolton Wanderers in July 2014, reuniting with his former manager Dougie Freedman, who he played under at Crystal Palace.  However, Moxey now looks set to leave Bolton.

It is understood that Bolton will allow the left-back to leave in an effort to get Moxey’s wages off the books and relieve some of the financial pressure on the club.  Moxey is a big earner at Bolton and the club desperately need to cut their payroll to avoid any more trouble with the Football League.

Bolton were placed under a transfer embargo last month after the club were unable to submit a Financial Fair Play return for the 2014-15 season.  It is understood that this embargo could be lifted quickly however if the club came under new ownership.

Moxey is an experienced player at Championship level, having made over 150 appearances during his time at Derby County and Crystal Palace.
