Brent & Kilburn Times understands that there is an interest from Queens Park Rangers in Nottingham Forest midfielder and captain Henri Lansbury. Both sides meet in the Third Round of the FA Cup this weekend at the City Ground.
There is also a suggestion that Championship rivals Burnley are set to reignite their interest in the former Arsenal youngster. Lansbury came very close to linking up with Sean Dyche’s men in August but last-gasp talks with Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi led to him remaining with the club.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink previously worked on the coaching staff with Forest and is looking towards his former club to try and bolster his squad in January. It is believed that the Dutchman has been sanctioned funds to sign new players this month, with as many as three new faces expected to come through the door.
Hasselbaink is still awaiting his first victory as R’s manager after taking charge following his departure from Burton Albion. 25-year-old Lansbury appears to be one of many targets that he is chasing, although he certainly appears to be in the top bracket it terms of players he desires the most.
It remains to be seen if Lansbury would be prepared to leave the club, especially after committing his future as recently as August. Nevertheless, good players will always be linked with transfers and Henri Lansbury is no exception.
