Birmingham Mail understands that Birmingham City midfielder Reece Brown is set for a move to Premier League side West Ham United. He featured for their Under-21 side in last night’s 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Hammers Under-21 team are coached by Terry Westley, who is a former coach at Birmingham, so is undoubtedly more than aware of Brown’s qualities and attributes. It remains to be seen if a deal will be concluded, but based on the fact he featured, there is a very good chance that it will. Gary Rowett has since confirmed that the midfielder has left to link up with West Ham on trial.
Brown lined up alongside former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder Alex Song in the centre of midfield last night. 19-year-old Brown has barely featured in the Blues first team so far this season, but has continued to impress with the England Under-20 national team.

Last season he enjoyed a brief spell on loan at Notts County in League One, but that spell was cut short because of an injury. With a move to the Premier League now imminent, the future certainly looks bright for Brown, who will turn 20 in March.
It would be a blow to Birmingham however, as it would be the secondary promising youngster they would lose in a matter of days. Yesterday Demarai Gray completed a four-and-a-half year deal with high-flying Leicester City.
