Preston North End are leading the chase for Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell as the club get ready to send the 21-year-old out on loan, according to a report.

Powell has been featuring regularly for the Manchester United Under-21 side as he continues his recovery from an injury but has also made two appearances for the first team led by Louis Van Gaal.  Powell will be sent out on loan this month however, in order to get more game time and get back to match sharpness.

It is understood that six teams are interested in signing the former Crewe player, with Preston North End looking the most likely to get the deal done.

Powell’s contract with Manchester United expires in the summer and it is believed the player is keen to sign a new deal.  A loan spell away from the club is a chance to impress for Powell, and so would be beneficial for both the player and his club.
