Notts Forest set to sign La Liga international left back

Sky Sports understands that Nottingham Forest are set to solve their left back shortage with the loan capture of Bojan Jokic from Villarreal. The Slovenian has been in Nottingham this afternoon as the clubs look to complete the deal.

The 29-year-old has played 72 times for the Slovenia national team, including an appearance against England in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He has been struggling for regular football with the La Liga side and now looks set to switch to the City Ground, where he is almost guaranteed minutes on the pitch.

With Daniel Pinillos ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee ligament injury in the recent victory over MK Dons, Dougie Freedman hasn’t hid from the fact that he was chasing a replacement. Michael Mancienne has performed admirably in this role in the last few games, but it is certainly not a natural position for him. Daniel Fox is another option but he is badly out-of-favour with Freedman, having barely featured all season.

Jokic spent the first few years of his career in Slovenian football with clubs such as Triglav Kranj and Gorica. He then moved to France with Souchax, where he played for three seasons. He then moved to Italian Serie A side Chievo on loan, before eventually turning that into a permanent transfer. He penned a four-year contract with Villarreal in July 2013.
