West Ham recall Poyet from MK Dons

West Ham United have recalled Diego Poyet from his loan spell at Championship side MK Dons, it has been confirmed.

The 20 year old, son of former Chelsea star Gus, had made 20 appearances for the Dons this season, since joining in August.

He is a Uruguay under 20 international, but had only started two games for MK in December, leading to a recall.

MK boss Karl Robinson told the clubs website “it didn’t really work with him playing alongside Darren Potter.”

“They are both top players, everyone knows how important Darren is to us. I love developing young players and it’s not fair on him as a young player, not getting as many minutes as he would like.”

Poyet will now return to West Ham although he has been linked with a move away from the club after failing to impress Slaven Bilic.

The 20 year old signed for West Ham from Charlton and was highly rated at the time, but has struggled for game time at Upton Park, made harder by The Hammers having Alex Song on loan from Barcelona.

MK are in their first ever season in the second tier and are struggling after a good start. They lie 20th, two points above the drop zone, after 25 games.
