Angers forward Camara to sign for Derby imminently

Derby County are closing in on the January signing of Angers forward Abdoul Camara. French Football Weekly reports that Angers manager Stephane Moulin confirmed on French television this weekend that the left winger will be leaving the club.

Get French Football News understands that an undisclosed fee has been agreed between the two clubs. The Guinean international has also been the subject of interest from French clubs such as Lyon, St Etienne and Lille, however it would appear Paul Clement will bolster his squad with the signing of the 25-year-old. A few weeks ago we covered news that Derby were rumoured to be interested in this potential move.

The video below provides a glimpse of what Derby supporters can expect to see from their imminent new signing. Here is Camara scoring in Angers’ 2-1 away victory at Toulouse earlier this season.

Angers have elected to part ways with one of their prized assets after he rejected the offer of a new contract with the newly promoted side, who are the surprise package in Ligue 1 so far this season. With his deal set to expire at the end of this season, Derby look set to sign him in a cut-price deal. Derby Telegraph are reporting that the agreed fee is £1.25million.

French Football Weekly have also identified that the players pace, strength and dribbling qualities are undoubtedly his biggest assets. He’ll fit in nicely into Clement’s preferred 4-3-3 formation as this is the one he has excelled in whilst playing with Angers recently. He has scored twice in 17 games, but offers something in both directions, meaning that he would provide plenty of support to left back Stephen Warnock, if selected.
