Gillingham loanee returns to Chelsea

Chelsea youngster Jordan Houghton has revealed that he will be returning to the club from his loan spell at Gillingham this January, reports The Express. 

The 20 year old midfielder moved to The Gills, who are flying in League One, at the start of this campaign.

He has made 15 appearances for the club since signing and has admitted that it is a shame to be leaving the Kent club, who lie 2nd in League One after demolishing Bradford 3-0 yesterday.

Houghton wrote on Twitter:

“I’d like to thank everyone at Gillingham FC for my time there.”

“It was my first experience in the Football League and in the main an enjoyable one.”

“It was a shame how it ended and not exactly how I’d have planned but I’ve learnt a lot and am pleased with all of the 15 games I got.”

“Thank you to the club and its staff for giving me the opportunity, the fans and most importantly the players who made me feel like part of the team from day one.”

“I wish everyone at Gillingham football club and it’s associated all the best in the future.”

The 20 year old midfielder captained Chelsea’s under 21 side last season and has also made two appearances for England Under 20s.

He will now return to Stamford Bridge.

Gillingham have been superb this season, and lie second in League One after 25 games.
