York City aiming to sign Spurs winger on a permanent basis

York City Manager Jackie McNamara is looking to bring on loan Tottenham Hotspur winger Kenny McEvoy to Bootham Crescent on a permanent basis, according to reports.

The Waterford born winger spurned two excellent late chances to salvage a point for The Minstermen in yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

City Manager Jackie McNamara spoke to the press after the match to reveal that McEvoy is understood to be surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane and to confirm his interest in signing the youngster on a permanent basis this month.

The 21 year old joined The Minstermen on a short term loan deal in November which is due to expire this month but the winger has impressed at Bootham Crescent despite being handed a number of short cameo roles to display his talent during his time at the club.

The winger, who bares an uncanny resemblance to Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under 17 to Under 21 levels.

McEvoy has previously been loaned out in short spells to Peterborough United, Colchester United and Stevenage prior to his latest move to York City. The majority of his time has been spent playing Under 21 football for Tottenham Hotspur in the Under 21 Premier League.

McEvoy has this morning Tweeted that he has come to an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to leave the club which could pave the way for a move to Bootham Crescent.
