Chesterfield post 7 in taming of the Shrews

It wasn’t obvious how the game would turn out in the 28th minute when Jay O’Shea opened the scoring for Chesterfield. Even by half time, with Chesterfield 3-0 to the good, you couldn’t have foreseen the final result.

As the final whistle blew, Chesterfield stood on the end of a 7-1 victory, courtesy of a glut of four goals inside the last 20 minutes of the game giving the Spireites a deserved and emphatic victory over a shell-shocked Shrewsbury side.

It is not often that any team hits the dizy heights  of scoring seven goals and, when this rare occasion does happen, the fans of any team have a right to celebrate.

This was the case with Chesterfield fans who tonight have been on Twitter in a mixture of celebration and disbelief at being Saturday’s ‘Magnificent Seven‘.
