League Two review – players who may attract January transfer interest

With the opening of the January transfer window now just hours away, The72 looks at League Two’s hottest properties in the upcoming window.

1. Josh Windass (Accrington Stanley)

The 21-year-old midfielder has become one of the division’s most feared competitors this season scoring 11 goals in 24 matches and attracting a number of Premier League and Championship admirers. Windass possesses superb skill and aggression and is the son of Football League journeyman Dean Windass.

2. Kemar Roofe (Oxford United)

The U’s signed the midfielder on a permanent deal from West Bromwich Albion in the summer and Roofe has never looked back. The 22-year-old has scored 12 goals in 23 matches for the yellows this season and with accurate finishing and slick passing of a football the player is being watched by several Championship clubs.

3. Jay Simpson (Leyton Orient)

Former Arsenal and Hull City striker Jay Simpson has topped the League Two goalscoring charts this season after hitting the net no less than 18 times for Orient. The pacey forward has the adaptability to play as a target man or wide man and frightens opposition defenders meaning that higher division clubs will be fighting for his signature.

4. Matty Taylor (Bristol Rovers)

After a slow start to life in the Football League Bristol Rovers’ striker Matty Taylor has warmed to the task of League Two football and has scored 14 goals for The Pirates. Taylor’s seasonal highlight was his superb hat trick against Wycombe Wanderers which has now attracted plenty of interest for his services.
