Middlesbrough players set to attract January transfer interest

Middlesbrough Manager Aitor Karanka is expecting plenty of enquiries about a number of his players in the January transfer window with a whole host of Premier League and Championship sides supposedly showing an interest in his promotion chasing stars

Boro are flying high in the Championship after last weekend’s superb 3-0 victory at a previously unbeaten Brighton & Hove Albion which saw the club top the Championship table.

Daniel Ayala is widely regarded as one of the best centre halves in the Championship while full back George Friend made last season’s Championship Team of the Year. Midfielder Adam Forshaw has plenty of talent to develop despite finding life tough on Teesside after playing a bit part role this season while Albert Adomah has weighed in with some important goals for Boro. Adomah had a public fall out with his Manager in August but the matter has been resolved.

In attack, out of favour striker Yanic Wildschut is in fantastic goalscoring form during his loan spell at Wigan Athletic and could be in demand while Kike’s return to form will be of interest to a number of other clubs.

It is understood that Chairman Steve Gibson has given Karanka the green light to strengthen his squad during the January transfer window after Boro fell within Financial Fair Play regulations, avoiding any transfer embargo or financial penalty.
