Derby County have been linked with a January move for Oxford United star Callum O’Dowda, according to the Derby Telegraph.
O’Dowda is a graduate of Oxford United’s academy and has made 80 senior appearances for The U’s scoring 8 goals. The 20 year old winger also qualifies to play for the Republic of Ireland through his late grandfather and has represented his country at Under 21 level, earning 4 caps and scoring once.
The youngster has been one of the top performers for Oxford United this season with The U’s flying high in League 2 and looking like real candidates for automatic promotion.
Manager Michael Appleton has previously publically stated that his star players should reject any January moves and concentrate on seeing the job through at The Kassam Stadium.
It’s not just The Rams who have been impressed by the rise of O’Dowda this season. It has been rumoured that Premier League giants Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have all been keeping a close eye on the player although Wilder was quick to deny rumours that O’Dowda had been offered a trial at a Premier League club with a view to being offered a contract.
Paul Clement’s Derby County side are also impressing many this season with the club fighting for a place in the Premier League following last season’s second half of the season collapse which saw the club miss out on a Play Off spot.
