In a press conference given as a preview to the Nottingham Forest game, Steve Evans mentioned one big thing that Leeds United need to change over the festive period.
When questioned by one of the reporters present at the presser as to whether a sequence of results was being put together to convince owner Massimo Cellino to splash the cash in January, Evans answered it in a forthright manner and highlighted one key thing that needs to change over this Christmas period.
Evans’ response was that, “We are part of the way there. This football club has not won a Christmas fixture since 2009 when it won at Stockport. It’s the time of the season where we are not known for collecting points. We have to change recent history.”
This was picked up by Yorkshire Evening Post reporter and Leeds United correspondent Phil Hay who Tweeted this out to his 69,400 followers on Twitter,
Good stat from Steve Evans – Leeds haven't won a game between Xmas and New Year since 2009. "It would be nice to break that." #lufc

Over the Christmas period, between Boxing Day and Old Year’s Eve, Leeds have two games against Nottingham Forest (A) and Derby County (H) on the 27th and 29th December respectively, a fixture congestion that has angered Evans somewhat. One telling quote from the presser from Evans, quoted by Hay on his Twitter, was “If you’re the biggest club in the Football League they perhaps want to keep you in the Football League.”
