Jackett denies Afobe bids from Premier League club

Wolves manager Kenny Jackett has denied Norwich City have made an approach for striker Benik Afobe despite reports of a £12 million bid earlier this week.

The Canaries failed with a number of approaches for the English Under-21 international in the Summer, the largest of which is believed to be around £10 million.

Norwich manager Alex Neil is expected to reignite his interest in the 22-year old in January but Jackett has rebuffed claims the Norfolk club have already made contact.

“There have been no offers or approaches from any clubs,” Jackett said.

“Until that happens, nothing happens. Should it build up like last time we’ll have to see. As it stands there’s nobody making any inquiries, it’s all quiet on that front.

“In terms of anybody coming in for him, if and when it happens we’ll discuss it then.”

Afobe has scored 10 goals in 24 appearances for struggling Wolves this season, who find themselves underperforming in 17th place in the Sky Bet Championship.
