It’s all going on at Bolton Wanderers

As if being bottom of the Championship (24th), yet top of the debt pile (£181.2m) wasn’t bad enough; as if having a club in limbo and awaiting a sale with playing staff being paid wasn’t bad enough; the Mirror add extra fuel to the fire that is smouldering at the Macron Stadium.

According to one of the nation’s more prominent red-top daily newspapers, it seems that manager Neil Lennon is in even more trouble than he already is after what they [The Mirror] call a “knife threat” to his mistress over her threatening to reveal all about the affair to his long-term partner.

In what the Mirror claim is a ‘hushed up’ story that the “Bolton boss and BBC pundit Lennon tried to ban,” the newspaper go on to claim that they can “reveal” the extent of his year-long affair with a woman “20 years his junior” and how the alleged threat, heard by the newspaper in a telephone message, arose after his mistress, who the Mirror are calling ‘Kim’, discovered Lennon’s dalliance with a third woman. The Mirror allege that after ‘Kim’ threatened to reveal all to the beleaugured Bolton manager’s partner, the Bolton manager turned “nasty” and informed her that “someone ‘could’ put a knife to her throat if she spoke out.”

The Mirror then go on to claim that the affair, between Lennon and ‘Kim’ was open “in front of colleagues” – even including the mistress staying in the Bolton team hotel the night before match days before going on to claim the Bolton manager offering Kim £10,000 in cash “to buy her silence” when things started to sour between the pair.

Of all the things happening up at Bolton, on the football front, this is surely one story of allegations against their manager that the Wanderers could very well do without.
