Leeds star not thinking about Premier League

Leeds United midfielder Lewis Cook is not thinking about a potential switch to the Premier League, he has told Sky Sports.

The highly rated 18 year old has featured 17 times in The Championship for Leeds this season and speculation of interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and Bournemouth is rife.

However, Cook, an England Under 19 international, has insisted that he is not thinking beyond this season.

Cook made his debut for Leeds on the opening day of last season and won the clubs Young Player of the Year for 2014/15.

He has since become a regular fixture in the side, often standing out as one of United’s most talented players.

He told Sky Sports “I’m playing my football at Leeds at the moment so I’m enjoying my time here”.

“We’re doing well so we’ll see what happens in the future. I just try not to read anything. Nothing’s happened so I can’t really comment on it, I’m just enjoying playing for Leeds.”

“It’s great for me (to be playing regularly in the Championship) personally. It’s much better than playing in the U21s somewhere.”

“Playing a lot of games in the Championship at a really intense level is competitive, really good for me, and can improve you as a player.”
Cook also stated his desire to add more goals to his game, as he has bagged just once this campaign.

He said “scoring more goals improves you as a player a lot. I had a chance on Saturday [against Charlton] to score, but unfortunately it got blocked.”

“If I can score more then it’s more I can add to my game and improve me as a player.”

Fans can watch Cook live on Sky Sports tonight, as his club make the trip to play Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Leeds have been disappointing in the Championship so far this season and lie in 18th place.

They have already sacked manager Uwe Rosler earlier in the campaign and their are now rumours surfacing that manager Steve Evans is unhappy with owner Massimo Cellino’s involvement in the match day squad.
