Leeds Tried To Sign Ikeme

Leeds United tried to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme in October according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Leeds boss Steve Evans reportedly made an approach for the 29-year old shot stopper on-loan shortly after arriving at the club.

Evans highlighted Ikeme as a target due to Marco Silvestri’s poor form and Ross Turnbull’s injury, leaving the Elland Road club short of options in the goalkeeping department.

His efforts to sign the Englishman were reportedly rebuffed by Wolves manager Kenny Jacket, despite being the club’s number two this season.

Jacket was unwilling to let him leave on-loan therefore decided against sanctioning the move and nothing materialised.

Ikeme has been reintroduced into the first-team recently after on-loan Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez suffered an injury last month and the need for the Whites to sign a new goalkeeper has slipped down Evans’ list of priorities following Silvestri’s improved performances.

Leeds face Ikeme’s Wolves live on Sky Sports on Thursday evening at Molineux.
