Leeds, QPR and Fulham chase Bolton defender

Bolton Wanderers defender Dorian Dervite is a transfer target of three other Championship clubs according to TEAMtalk. The Macron Stadium club are struggling financially and manager Neil Lennon admitted that players may need to be sold in January.

The 27-year-old central defender is attracting interest from Leeds United, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers, who are clubs that will certainly be active once the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year. The Frenchman recently scored his first goal for the Trotters, having been on the books since moving from Charlton Athletic in May 2014 on a three-year-deal.

He has represented his country right up from Under-16s through to Under-21 levels. He began his career in the Capital with Tottenham Hotspur, making his debut in a League Cup victory over Port Vale in November 2006. A loan spell at Southend United followed, before moving from England altogether and playing for the Villarreal B side. He would then return to London with Charlton.

He also recently completed his 50th appearance for Lennon’s side, who are rooted to the bottom of the Championship. With their financial troubles well in the public domain, it is clear that it is a desperate time for the Lancashire club. Nevertheless, Lennon is adamant that the club will come through this but did concede that players may not to leave. With this apparent interest in one of his defenders, it could potentially be an easy sell. Plus with three clubs interested, then negotiations could lead to a slightly higher price-tag. January is well-known for its paying above the odds mentality, which could suit Bolton considering their circumstances.
