Charlton optimistic of holding onto teenager despite interest

Charlton Athletic’s teenage starlet Ademola Lookman has this week been linked with several Premier League clubs, according to London24. However, the Addicks are desperately trying to tie him down with a new contract.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City amongst others have all been linked with bringing the 18-year-old to the Premier League in January.

Charlton have developed plenty of top talents in recent years, with the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Diego Poyet and Joe Gomez all making the move to the Premier League after emerging at The Valley.

But Charlton boss Karel Fraeye has warned clubs against trying to sign the promising youngster.

“Ademola has only been in first team football for a few weeks. I am sure he will not be sold in January and be here for the long term,” he said.

The player, his father and his agent reportedly held talks with the club this week and Charlton are very confident that the striker will be signing a new deal with the club in the coming weeks or months. Therefore, it appears that Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, and any other interested party will need to look elsewhere for a top talent in the upcoming winter window.
