Carvalhal praises Lopez after return from injury

Midfield star Alex Lopez has been praised by Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal on the club’s official website after making his comeback from injury during last weekend’s clash with high-flying Derby County.

The Spaniard had been out of action since early October with a thigh injury but slotted back into the team seamlessly against the Rams.

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Cardiff City, head coach Carvalhal has praised the quality Lopez brings to the side and his ability to adapt to the Championship.

“Alex played fantastic. First of all he is a very good person, he is a fantastic professional and he is experienced in football – especially in the Spanish first league where he played a lot of games for Celta Vigo.”

“He has adapted very well to the Championship, he has adapted very easily because of the abilities that he has. Also, he is from the North of Spain where the weather is more aggressive and it rains more so it’s nothing new to him here!”

With the games coming thick and fast over the Christmas and New Year period, the return to action of Lopez will give the Owls added options in the engine room and the head coach continued:

“He is a player with fantastic quality and one ready to go into the 18.”
