Rowett urges Blues to “fight hard”

Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett has urged his side to ‘fight hard’ and not be so ‘easy to play against’ at Middlesbrough this weekend, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The Blues manager is concerned that his team has strayed too far from the qualities which made it so successful during the first 12 months of his time in charge at St Andrews.

The last month, though, has been more of a struggle and Rowett’s team go to the Riverside having lost their last three matches. However, most of the Blues’ difficulties have been in front of their own supporters and Rowett believes the trip to both Boro and Preston on Tuesday, offer an opportunity to get back on track.

“Two away games coming up, I think we can go to both of those games and have less fear and perhaps try and relax a little bit and be hard to play against which has always been a hallmark of us over the last 13 months,” he said.

“That’s probably the one thing I don’t like about the team at the minute over the last three or four games is that we’ve just started to become a little bit too easy to play against. I think if you fight hard and work incredibly hard you’ll get results, it’s as simple as that.”
