Derby midfielder suffers injury setback

Derby County midfielder Craig Bryson has been dealt a blow in his attempted recovery from a knee injury. Derby Telegraph revealed that the 29-year-old has suffered a setback in his quest to get back to full fitness.

He picked up the original injury on the opening day of the season against Bolton Wanderers, which left him on the sidelines for three months. He has since made a return to first-team action, and made a few appearances off the bench. However in the last couple of weeks, it appears that more medical treatment and advice is needed before the next plan of action is arranged. Head Coach Paul Clement says that the club will do everything it can to get to the bottom of the issue,

“Craig has had a setback.

What we are trying to do is everything we can in order to not have to operate.

From the time he was injured to this point it has been a really lengthy time and it was the right thing with that kind of injury not to have surgery on it because he would have been out longer but we have arrived at a point now where we are such a long way down the line we need to do everything we can to not operate.”

Bryson has been with the iPro Stadium outfit since moving from Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock in June 2011. It was believed that the Rams beat the likes of Hull City and Leicester City to gain his signature. Ever since Nigel Clough brought him to the club, he has become a fans’ favourite and his energetic approach from midfield makes him a key performer. He is closing in on 400 career appearances, where he began his career with Clyde in 2004.
