One thing that Leeds United are suffering from is a lack of goals, indeed bite up front in general. However, this could be about to change with the club said to be keeping tabs on Hibernian’s Scottish U-21 striker Jason Cummings, according to a report on the Sun website.
The Sun say that Leeds United head coach Steve Evans is trailing the 20-year old youngster with an eye “to a possible January transfer swoop.” The Edinburgh-born forward has been in sparkling form for Hibs so far this season with 14 goals and one goal assist across all competitions and from only 20 total appearances, his strikerate being one goal every 115 minutes of action.
Cummings has scored 10 goals in his 15 appearances so far this term with Hibs as they attempt to keep pace with Glasgow giants Rangers at the head of the Scottish Championship, seven of these goals have come in his last eight games including a six-in-a-row streak. He made his debut for the Scotland Under-21 side in September this year and has four caps to his name, scoring in a 2-2 draw against Ukraine’s U-21 side.
His hot form from this season follows on from last season where he netted 21 times across all competitions for Hibernian at a strike rate of a goal every 139 minutes, also weighing in with 10 assists.
The youngster has 18 months left on his contract according to The Sun but that wouldn’t deter a determined Leeds United putting in a transfer offer to prise him away from Easter Road
