Reading, Reading target former Wolves defender

Reading target former Wolves defender

Reading are targeting former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Luton Town defender Kevin Foley, according to a report.

Foley was training with Reading earlier this month and left the club without being offered a contract, but now it seems that he could be signed by Reading after all.

The defender is currently a free agent after he left Danish side FC Copenhagen in summer.  Foley had signed for the club in January 2015 after his contract at Wolves was cancelled.  Foley only made four appearances for Copenhagen in around sixth months at the club.  Since leaving, he has had a trial with Shrewsbury Town.

Foley began his career with Luton Town, where he won promotion from League One.  The defender then left the club for Wolves when Luton were relegated after two seasons in the Championship.

In 2009 Foley was a key part of the Wolves team that won promotion to the Premier League but missed four months of the next season due to injury.

Wolves suffered successive relegations in 2012 and 2013 and Foley was rarely used by Kenny Jackett.  After two loan spells with Blackpool, the defender left the club in January 2015.

A move to Reading would be a way back into the Football League for Foley, who hasn’t played regularly since 2013.
