Brighton sign Man United starlet

Brighton have signed England Under 21 striker James Wilson on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season, their official website has confirmed.

The 19 year old striker will train with his Brighton teammates for the first time tomorrow and is available for the clubs home clash with play-off contenders Birmingham on Saturday.

Seagulls boss Chris Hughton said: “We have been keen to add a striker, and James has been our number one target for some time, so we are absolutely delighted to have completed the deal.”

Wilson has been described by current United boss Louis Van Gaal as one of England’s brightest young prospects and is highly rated at Old Trafford.

He has been at United since the age of seven and represented England at every level from u-16 to u-21.

Wilson netted twice on his United debut against Hull and made 18 appearances last term. He has featured this season against Arsenal and Middlesborough and was on the bench in United’s 0-0 draw with PSV Eindhoven last night.

The signing is encouraging for Brighton, as it adds more attacking prowess to support Tomer Hemed and Sam Baldock.

Brighton have been exceptional so far this season and are joint top with Hull, still unbeaten after 17 league matches.
