Brighton lead the race to sign 27-goal midfielder

Unbeaten Sky Bet Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion are in the running to sign Irish midfielder Richie Towell, according to Shoot

The 24 year old, a former Republic of Ireland under 21 international, had an incredible season for Dundalk in the League of Ireland last season.

He scored an astonishing 27 goals in 36 appearances from midfield last season as his side won the Irish Premier Division and League of Ireland last term.

Towell, a former Celtic trainee has revealed he has turned down offers to move abroad to Turkey and Poland since his contract ran out.

He has now been linked with Brighton, who are still yet to lose a league game this season after an incredible unbeaten run.

The Seagulls are currently level on points with Hull City at the top of The Championship after 17 games and have performed above all expectations this term.

Towell would be an interesting signing for Brighton, as it would be intriguing to see if he could transfer his form to the English pyramid.
